How To Change Drive Letter in Windows 7/8

When we create a new partition, we assign a drive letter such as C:\, D:\, E:\ and so on. You can assign any letter of the alphabet. Anyway, you will not have so many partitions or devices to use all letter from the alphabet.

But if you are used with some letters or you have many devices and you want to rename them to keep the things organized, here is how you can do it.

Method 1: Using Disk Management

1 Go to Disk Management

In Windows 7, click Start, then search for Disk Management, then click on Create and format hard disk partitions
In Windows 8, press Windows + Q keys, then search for Disk Management, then click on Create and format hard disk partitions

2 Change drive letter

Right click on the device or partition, then click Change drive letter and paths
Then click Change

3 Choose the letter

Then choose the desired letter, then click Ok.
Click Yes

4 The result

I have changed the letter from K:\ to L:\

Method 2: Using EaseUS Partition Master

This is a free program for personal use.

1 Download EaseUS Partition Master

Download and install the program.

2 Start it

Start the program and access its interface where all partitions are displayed.

3 Change drive letter

Click once on the partition, then click Change drive letter
Choose the new drive letter, then click Ok.

4 Apply

Click Apply, then Yes.
You don’t have to restart the computer.

5 The result

The drive letter is changed.
