Is My Computer 32 or 64 Bit (Windows 8/7)?

Some programs have many versions, designed for 32-bit or for 64-bit. When you download a program, you don’t know which type to choose (32-bit or for 64-bit) because you don’t know what type of operating system do you have.

Windows is also available as 32 or 64 bit installation – check this article to see the difference between those 2.

  • 32-bit programs will work on 32-bit and 64-bit Windows systems
  • 64-bit programs will NOT work on 32-bit Windows systems

So, you are safe to install any 32-bit program on your Windows, no matter if it is 32 or 64 bit. But if you have a 64-bit Windows system, then is better to install a 64-bit version of a program, in order to have a better performance of your computer.
